Dr. Ellen Drysdale 

Dr. Ellen Drysdale is originally from Halifax. She has had the privilege of serving her community for over 20 years.  She completed her Bachelor of Science at Dalhousie University before graduating from Dalhousie Dental School in 1994 where she was the recipient of the Quintessence Award for Greatest proficiency in Clinical Dentistry and Academic Acheivement, Quintessence Prize for Excellence in Clinical Achievement in Periodontics and Canadian Academy of Periodontology Prize. Dr. Drysdale is a member of the Nova Scotia Dental Association and Canadian Dental Association. She is licensed with the Nova Scotia Dental Board.

Dr. Drysdale enjoys all aspects of general dentistry with an emphasis on family dental care and prevention. She also enjoys cosmetic dentistry and is part of an implant study group. She takes a sincere interest in each individual and has a warm and caring style. By listening to individuals she is able to customize dental treatment to meet their specific needs.

After seven years practicing in Tantallon, Dr. Drysdale moved to North Carolina. She returned to establish her practice in Halifax. She enjoys a healthy lifestyle and loves the outdoors. She recognizes dental health is part of your total health.

Dr. Michael MacDonald 

Originally from PEI, Dr. MacDonald graduated from Dalhousie University in 1989 with BSc., D.D.S. He is married with three children and was involved in coaching hockey for 15 years with his boys. He spent the first eight years of his career practicing in Yarmouth, then moved to Halifax. Many services he is providing to his patients include dental implants, crowns, bridges, restorations and dentures.

Dr. MacDonald is a member of the Canadian Dental Association, the Nova Scotia Dental Association and is licensed with the Nova Scotia Dental Board.

Dr. Joseph K. Carter 

Dr. Carter was born and raised in Halifax, N.S. where he attended Dalhousie University and completed his Undergraduate and Dental Degree. He enjoys all aspects of dentistry and loves being able to provide a wide variety of treatment to all ages. For patients suffering from fear of dental treatment, Dr. Carter is board certified in offering Nitrous Oxide sedation to his patients. The treatment provides moderate sedation administered by a mask and wears off quickly. Aside from dentistry, Dr. Carter enjoys training and competing in Triathlons (completed his first Ironman in 2019), travelling, fishing, golfing, attending concerts, cooking, photography and camping.

Norah Kenny (Office Manager)

Norah joined the Lakeside Dental team in 2017 with 30 years of experience in Front Desk Management and Office Administration. Over the course of her career she has had the opportunity to work in the field of General Dentistry, Orthodontics, and Endodontics. Norah is our Office Manager, being responsible primarily for account management, insurance, and patient care. Norah has a passion for promoting good dental health and feels fortunate to be a part of such a positive and pro-active team. Her love in life has always been family and she takes every opportunity to spend time with them. They have five children and (presently) eight grandchildren. Norah loves the outdoors, and especially enjoys walking and gardening.

Linda (Receptionist)

Linda has been working as a Dental Receptionist for the past 20 years. She is originally from Halifax and comes from a dental family background working in sales, service, administrative staff and dentistry.  Linda has been working with Dr. Drysdale for the majority of those years and began working full-time alongside her team in 2006. She is knowledgable in treatment planning, insurance, and scheduling. Linda is most pleasant and everyone enjoys hers approachability and pleasant manner. 

Jennifer Abagencia (Dental Assistant)

Jennifer grew up in East Hants taking art lessons and playing soccer. She attended Dalhousie University before going to NSCC to take Dental Assisting Level 2, where she graduated with highest academic achievement in 2016. Shortly after graduating she started to work with Dr. Drysdale. Jennifer enjoys being outside camping and hiking, or just lounging in the pool with a good book. She continues to expand her skills by learning new techniques and attending continuing education courses.

Hilary Boudreau (Dental Hygienist)

Hilary graduated from Dalhousie University’s Dental Hygiene diploma program in 2010 and started working at Lakeside Dental in 2017. Hilary loves her patients and working with Dr. Drysdale’s team. She continues to take advantage of the newest techniques and updates in the field. She is from Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia. In her spare time, she is happy to be in the great outdoors hiking and biking, and cooking as she also has a degree in Dietetics. Hilary enjoys volunteering and was the College of Dental Hygienists of NS 2014 recipient of the Ambassador of the year Award for her work in the Halifax community.

Leora Weatherhead (Dental Hygienist)

Leora graduated from the Dental Hygiene program at Dalhousie University in 2005. She has been a part of Dr. MacDonald's team for 16 years. Leora's infectious smile and attention to patient care has proven to develop a loyal patient cliental who look forward to their regular hygiene visits. She is LA certified and keeps abreast of upcoming techniques in dentistry.  In her spare time she enjoys her active family & gardening.

Melissa Arnold (Receptionist/ Dental Assistant)

Melissa graduated in 2002 as a registered dental assistant from NSCC. She has worked as both a receptionist and dental assistant and recently joined Dr. Drysdale’s team as a receptionist. She lives in Porter’s Lake with her husband and son who is very involved in hockey. She volunteers a lot of her time with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and their local Minor Hockey Association. She enjoys watching her son play hockey, travelling for hockey, and spending time at their cottage with family and friends.

Sarah Outerleys (Dental Hygienist)
